Lacy Knitting Day

Come along and join in with other knitters who are starting or knitting lace.  This will be a relaxed day suitable for all knitting abilities with expert help on hand for any emergencies or concerns.  If you would like to start a project on the day we will have materials and patterns on hand to choose from.   Materials for a shawl are not included in the cost of the day but all yarn and needles you will need are.

Please read on for the full range of workshops on offer at The Knitting Hut.

The workshops with dates scheduled are shown first and workshops currently being scheduled are shown in purple just so you can see what is coming up next.

If you are interested in taking part in a workshop which does not have a date yet, please click the button next to the details to let us know and we will contact you as soon as we have a date.  Also if there is something you are interested in learning, please tell us.  We are always looking for new things to try!

The cost of each workshop is shown and for more information, please see the box on the left hand side of the screen.  Some workshops are now priced without materials to allow customers a wider choice of yarns they could use for the projects we make on our workshops.  We also offer a 15% discount on all materials purchased for a workshop.

Beading & Embellishment

This workshop will teach you how to incorporate beads and decorative stitches in your knitting to create a beautiful drawstring bag, ideal for use at a special occasion!  As usual, all materials will be provided and there is a wide range of yarn to choose from for your project.

Spinning Day

Starting Socks - Warning  ::  You WILL become addicted!!

If you would like to attempt knitting in the round to create a pair of socks then come along on this special series of mini workshops and learn how to get started.    Choose from a gorgeous selection of yarn and we will show you everything you need to know.  This workshop is suitable for confident knitters who can knit and purl but have never knitted socks before.  We will be covering the following:

Session 1:  Casting on using double pointed needles and knitting in the round.  We will work until the rib is completed and offer advice on solving potential problems.

Session 2:  This session is slightly longer as we will be turning the heel of your sock and showing you ways to make a really neat and professional finish.

Session 3:  Shaping the toe of your sock and grafting the toe stitches together to give an invisible finish.

This workshop is held at The Knitting Hut.

Toe up socks and customising your socks
